The area surrounding our dealership has a rich history dating back to the Texas oil trade.  Sour Lake Chevy, known locally as Truckville Texas, is located in Sour Lake, Texas. Many museums and historical sites are available in the area near our dealership, celebrating the oil boom of the early 1900s. It’s this oil boom that drew folks from all over, establishing our city history tied to the early Texas oil boom, especially following the 1901 Lucas Gusher at nearby Spindletop, making the town a boomtown and the birthplace of Texaco. Its origins lie in the late 1800s when it was known as Sour Lake Springs due to its sulphurous waters, which some believed had healing properties. Today, it's known as the "Gateway to the Big Thicket" and is home to the Bertha Terry Cornwell Museum of Sour Lake History, which preserves the town's unique heritage.
